The Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (SARSAT) Program is pleased to announce the 2026 Beacon Manufacturers Workshop (BMW), to be held in person on May 8, 2026, in conjunction with the RTCM Annual Assembly & Conference in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida USA.

The BMW provides a valuable forum for manufacturers, distributors, and service providers of 406 MHz emergency distress beacons to engage directly with U.S. Government representatives who manage and operate the U.S. SARSAT Program within the international Cospas-Sarsat Programme and

This workshop is designed to foster open dialogue between industry and government, offering participants the opportunity to:

  • Discuss issues impacting beacon development, performance, and customer use
  • Share feedback and perspectives with program decision-makers
  • Gain insight into current and future SARSAT system initiatives
  • Contribute to discussions that help shape system policies and enhancements

We encourage all stakeholders in the emergency beacon community to attend and participate in this important exchange of information and collaboration.

Event Details: Important meeting information follows: 

Location: The BMW will be held in-person at the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach, 999 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 USA. Please note: There are no plans for a remote participation.

 Meeting Schedule: The BMW will be conducted from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (EDT). Registration begins at 8:30 AM (EDT). Note: Lunch will be provided for registered attendees.

 Registration for the BMW:  The BMW requires separate registration for individuals who are not already registered through the standard RTCM Conference process. Please note, there is no fee to attend the BMW.
